BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- The first engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways in Bataan headed by District Engineer Wilfredo S. Mallari was adjudged as “Best in Central Luzon (Region 3) after it emerged No. 1 in terms of procurement and project implementation.
Based on the monitoring of projects conducted by the DPWH regional office, the Bataan DPWH’s first district office has emerged as the fastest in complying with the rules on, among others, advertisement and bidding of projects, and contract approval in the period from January to February, and May and June, this year.
The DPWH 1st engineering district here was also cited for its quick passage of resolutions on the bidding of projects conducted by its bids and awards committee (BAC). This led to the smooth and immediate awarding to the winning contractors of infrastructure projects in the district.
Engineer Celia Ramos-Manalo, whose team conducted the monitoring of projects, said the first engineering district was likewise adjudged as the best in the implementation of projects during the period under review, noting this was not the first time that it was adjudged best as it was chosen as the “best in the whole country” last year.
